  • On January 5, 2024 he pleaded guilty to administering an oath without the principal present and two counts of taking an acknowledgment without the principal present, misdemeanor notary violations committed in May 2022 before he was elected; a retired chief district judge from outside the county placed him on 90 days of unsupervised probation with a conditional discharge under which the convictions would be dismissed on successful completion, and required him to speak to a notary class; the pleas were announced by the district attorney's office and also reported by Law36047.
