Chris Royal is an Army veteran from Brownsville who has worked as a teacher, lawyer, computer programmer and real estate textbook author; he said in 2024 that he had retired from teaching¹. He ran for the 34th District as an independent in 2022, receiving 3.0 percent of the vote, and is the Libertarian nominee in 2026¹².
