Shanta Craig Owens is a circuit judge in the criminal division of Jefferson County's 10th Judicial Circuit, appointed by Governor Kay Ivey in January 2019 and elected to a full term in November 2020123. She was first elected a district judge in 2008 and presided over the Birmingham Division drug court from 2009 to 2019, after working as a deputy district attorney1. She is unopposed for Place 2 on the November 3, 2026 ballot4.
